APAN (Asia Pacific Advanced Network) represents its members and operates the backbone network connecting research and education networks across Asia, Oceania, and other global networks.
APAN Ltd is a not-for-profit association and the legal entity responsible for APAN’s activities. Its members are organisations representing research and education network interests in their respective countries/economies.
APAN coordinates network technologies, services, and applications among members and with international partners. It promotes network-enabled research and education activities, including research collaboration, knowledge sharing, tele-health, and disaster mitigation.
Established
on 3 June 1997 as a non-profit consortium, APAN was incorporated in Hong
Kong on 8 August 2009 as a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee.
